State of the REX 2026 – News, Affiliate Program & New Things!
Hello, hello, hello everyone! Rob Barefoot here, 2026 has set in and there has been a lot churning on the R. Talsorian Games front across multiple lines. But I don’t have just updates on each line today for you, I have peeks at Night City 2045’s art, news on some fronts people may not have expected!
Lets get this going.
I’m starting this off the proper way, by sharing the 2 biggest new things that have now kicked off for R. Talsorian Games and fans. They both are things I’ve been wanting to get to you for a long time, so seeing them come to fruition makes my day. First off…
R. Talsorian Games Creator Affiliate Program
We now have an affiliate program in place directly through us for our webstore! This encompasses not only affiliate links, but also direct codes where reviewers, news outlets, streamers, and content creators as a whole can earn commissions. We’ll also soon have our webstore linked to Youtube itself, allowing creators who make reviews or videos around our books to directly link them to their videos and earn commission that way as well. This is the first step in a couple new programs coming soon, the other being the Community Content Program which has been now deemed the RTG Night Market, via DriveThruRPG. Details on that one is coming soon.
Digital Versions at TalsorianStore.Com
As we expand what we’re doing to get fans involved, we are also expanding options for people looking to pick up our games as well. As of today, you’ll see a new category over at https://www.talsorianstore.com/ which is, yes, a place to buy PDF and digital versions of our books directly from us. This is in preparation for a new method of release we’ll be doing for all of our books going forward, starting with Fossilized Violence. You’ll also be able soon to bundle your physical purchase with your digital purchase, making it so you can get both in the same place.
Now to answer a couple of questions about this outright, no the PDFs will not be distributed for free upon purchase of a physical book. The reason for this is we do not want to render Bits & Mortar obsolete. We still want to encourage people to go to your local game store and buy books in person, in which doing it via Bits & Mortar you’re able to obtain the free PDF that way. We want to keep places like that open and running strong, so this is not going to be something we change.
Also if you own the PDF on another platform such as DriveThruRPG, it does not mean you’ll be able to obtain it for free direct from us. Wherever you’ve purchased your PDF, that is who you’ll be contacting for customer service. We cannot act on the behalf of another platform. The prices will be the same, unless a sale is happening. And release dates will be synced other than via pre-order. Print on Demand will remain on DriveThruRPG, as well as titles such as Single Player Mode, the Netrunner & Trauma Decks, and the Interface series.
We’ll be starting by adding sold out books first to this category, and then expanding as we go. We also will be distributing DLC in the same manner going forward for all lines.
Now that all of that is covered, how about we talk about some books?
Interface RED Volume 5
Our latest Interface RED has met a couple delays but is now coming to the finish line, with details to follow by the end of the month. We want to take some time to let you know how the release of this Interface will go. Because we know how eager you want to get your hands on the new military grade gear, we’ll be making the PDF available before the POD is available. This means if you want it early, you’ll be able to do just that! A little warning though, as this is something stated about what you’ll be finding within…
Taking anything, and we mean anything from Solo of Fortune 2045 into your game will automatically consider that character, be it player or NPC, Hardened. The step from street punk to cybermerc is that much of a jump. So if you’re looking to do heavy work, be warned, your enemies are going to be bringing just as much heat.
Shadow Scar Core Rulebook
Oh this is going to be an easy one, we’re almost off to the printers with the Core Rulebook for Shadow Scar! We also are going to soon be announcing the next in the line, so stay tuned for that as well. The slight difficulty we’ve had with shipping with Kickstarter also has a solution that we’ll be filling everyone in on in an update later today over there. And yes, the Community Content Program is on schedule to drop when Shadow Scar officially releases to the public!
Fossilized Violence
The dinos are coming, faster than people expect. Fossilized Violence may have to be slid back a week or two, but we’re hurtling towards its release faster than an extinction level event towards the Gulf of Mexico. For the release of Fossilized Violence, we’re doing something a little new. I’ll give you all more exacts as it comes closer for pre-order time.
Night City 2045
Ahh…yep, I 100% on purpose wanted to make this one last. Not only because I know its the one everyone wants to see, but because the order of books you’ve seen from the start to now is the release order you can expect!
Night City 2045 is in its final layout stages, there is still some work to do on it. We are though planning something special for this release, with something unique we’ve had the opportunity to do. I can’t give details on it yet, you’ll know it soon, but its looking like its Maybe going to be a good spring.
Art, previews, and snippets are soon to come after we get closer to release. And the release setup that Fossilized Violence will follow is how well be releasing Night City 2045 too.
A lot to cover, eh? There is still a lot I’m not able to talk about yet. We also are continuing to do Mayor’s Desk now in video format, and the Q&A with Mike Pondsmith should be ready to go next week for everyone too. And yes I know The Witcher is not listed here, but that is because we have no new updates since our last one. Mike is deep in the development of the book, which is still on course for a later release this year.
