Welcome to Night City #9 – Outskirts & Playland by the Sea

Another week, another preview!

I’m J Gray (Cyberpunk RED line manager), and I’m here to share more information about Night City 2045, our upcoming guide to the greatest metropolis of the Dark Future. It’ll be out in June so mark your calendars!

For week nine of our blog series, we’ll be taking you outside of Night City to glimpse the Outskirts and Playland by the Sea. Stick around to the end, and you’ll get a preview of an absolutely stunning piece of art!

The Outskirts

City Manager: Technically, the area around Night City is part of San Luis Obispo County, but no one really governs it.

Population: Believe it or not, most people living in the Outskirts do so by choice: reclaimers, hermits, farmers, and independent thinkers. The one thing they have in common: they’re all tough. You have to be.

Security Provider: The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s office provides a small measure of traditional law enforcement “services.” The NorCal Marshalls – most especially the Highway Patrol – monitors major roads.

Recent History: The Outskirts are more a place people drive through on the way to history than a place where history happens. Ask the people who live here and they’re more likely to tell you about a birth, a cookout, or who’s fucking who than any big event.

Random Location #1: (1) 107.3 Morro Rock Radio. While most people think of the Outskirts as the area north, south, and east of Night City, it also includes the under-construction Night City Spaceport. Morro Rock Radio plays a combination of classic American rock and Neo-African pop.

Random Location #2: (16) SovOil CHOOH2 Station. Station off the New Pacific Highway. Attached to a small Oasis store.

Random Location #3: (14) Pol-Bud Mine. The largest of Pol-Bud’s many mines in Northern and Southern California. Miners work 24/7 to harvest limestone from the earth.

Random Location #4: (4) Laguna Bend. A symbol to reclaimers in the region of what is possible when community and perseverance merge to create something new. Home to a school, a diner, a fuel station, and a church.

Random Location #5: (2c) Poppy Farm. The name’s a bit on the nose because, yeah, they grow poppies here. An experimental breed created by Biotechnica. The megacorp stations guards here full time to protect its investment.

Playland by the Sea

Everyone’s favorite regional amusement park is home to six unique lands, each ready to serve its customers entertainment around the clock. Ignore the Piranhas and the yogangs and focus on the fun.

Fantasy Island: A land of subconscious desires bubbling with potential! When the sun sets, Fantasy Island comes alive with drinking and dancing for adult visitors.

Grand Junction: Feel like you’ve been transported to 1851 as you enter a stunning recreation of historic San Francisco. Stay after sundown and watch the pyrotechnics fly as the city “burns down” for your entertainment!

Haunted Woods: Dare you venture deep into the forest and seek the spooky? Will you join the monsters of the Circle of the Supernatural or the hunters of the Frighthunters Society?

Lovers Lake: Bring your mainline(s) to the most romantic land in Night City! With the most amorous food, music, and atmosphere around, we guarantee the perfect date.

Segotari Discovery Zone: Don’t just visit the arcade! Become part of it! The Segotari Discovery Zone brings video game legend to life and transforms you into the star of the show.

Thrill Hill: Our greatest, most dangerous, and most thrilling rides. Open 24/7. Exhilarating during the day … and even more impressive after the sun sets. Can you survive the ride?
