A Peek Inside the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit – The Jacket

Coming off of our announcement that the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is going to print, it’s time we talk about one of the three books inside…

Recover the stolen mementos of a sentimental cowboy...

Lets introduce you to The Jacket, the adventure included in the new box set and starter kit! The expected length of game time to complete it we’ve put around 6 to 10 hours to complete, but let’s face it, every table is different.

The book for The Jacket contains:

  • 30 Pages of the Mission Itself
  • 8 Pages of NPC Stat Blocks
  • 2 Pages of GM Advice for Newer GMs

That being shared though, that’s only the technical aspects of it…What’s really in The Jacket? Who is featured within? What will happen the moment you jump into the game? Guess I should get you a couple answers then. Don’t worry though, I won’t spoil the really good stuff.

In The Jacket, you and your friends will take control of any number of seven newly created characters, pregenerated for the mission. You’ll have the option to play as, for example, Maven here who is the Tech of the crew. You’ll also meet Hardpoint, the Solo of the group, Bluescreen the Netrunner, and many more.

Now so it’s said, you do not play as any characters from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime themselves. This whole adventure takes place after the ending of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (you already know what that means if you’ve seen it) and before the events of Cyberpunk 2077. I want to be sure to let you all know this, you’ll be getting to know some new faces here…we did promise some old ones though now didn’t we?

The Jacket begins with, as most jobs do, a call for a gig in the outskirts of Night City. You may recognize the fixer setting you up for this one…know a Dakota Smith? Well, she’ll be sending you and your crew to a self-storage joint to meet the client himself, a certain getaway driver. He goes by the name of Falco.

From then on, it’s safe to say all hell breaks loose as on arrival…you get less than a warm welcome from a group that seemed to arrive in a beat-up old REO Meatwagon ambulance. From there, looks like you’ll just have to handle business with this group of helpful employees won’t you.

You’ll be taken through many places in Night City, such as Megabuilding H4, as you work to retrieve multiple stolen pieces of…let’s say sentimental value to this well spoken client. The mission itself is wrote to also include multiple different endings depending on choices you and your crew make as you navigate the dangers within.

There are many, many things I’m leaving out here of course. I’m only letting you in on the very first few moments and a single location you’ll head to after all!

Now, remember, the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is not a brand new edition of the rules, it’s not a full source book, and it’s run on our Cyberpunk RED version of the Cyberpunk tabletop roleplaying game. It is a new box set and our new starter kit for Cyberpunk RED.

If you’re interested in giving Cyberpunk RED a go before the release, you can either head to DriveThruRPG for a free download of what we like to call Easy Mode or you can pick up the physical Core Rulebook itself here at our webstore. There is a digital version of the Core Rulebook too over on DriveThruRPG too, if you just want it immediately!

I’ll leave you all to it, until next time! I may have more things I’m just waiting to share.
