There’s a rumor going around the internet that Cyberpunk Red core will be out in June.
We’re stamping this one as:
Here’s the details:
As some keen-eyed Screwheads have noted, we originally announced an August 2019 release date for Cyberpunk Red core. However, the need to work with CD Projekt Red to make sure the lore of the Cyberpunk universe ran smooth from 2013 to 2020 to Red to 2077 forced us to take that release date off the table. Expanding a collaborative, multimedia universe takes flexibility.
Since we knew it would take some time to work out the lore kinks <insert joke about lore being into whips and chains here> Mike and the team decided to take the time to examine the rules, line by line, do some more testing, and polish things up.
Our art director, the incredible Jaye Kovach, also gleefully took advantage of the extra time to work with her stable of astoundingly talented artists and create additional illustrations beyond the initial order.
Thus, our current goal to have design, writing, editing, more editing, layout, and printing done and done is sometime in June. Optimistically, we’d say May but June is the safer bet. Printing, especially, can be hard to predict because the presses might be busy when we hand the files over. That can add extra time.
All that being said, we’re going to bold, italicize, underline, and capitalize the next part to make sure it is as noticeable as possible.
IF, DURING THESE FINAL MONTHS, WE DECIDE THE GAME NEEDS MORE WORK, WE WILL WORK ON THE GAME MORE. THEREFORE, JUNE IS A TARGET AND NOT A PROMISE.
As soon as we have an absolute “we know we will hit it” date we will announce it, with bells, across the length and breadth of the internet!
On Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Discord, and here on this site.
We’ll have a nice preview of some of what this extra time has allowed us to do, ruleswise, next Friday.
Speaking of art, we showed off two new pieces at DundraCon and on the Cyberpunk Community Podcast this weekend. It seems only fair to share them with you right now! The first piece is titled Flyboy and is by Angelina Storganova. The second is I’m Your Huckleberry by Neil Branquinho.
Until Friday, stay safe on the streets!
