Tossing Coins: Update from the Witcher Front

Hey Everybody! Cody Pondsmith, lead designer on The Witcher TRPG here.

It’s been a long time since I crawled out of the catacombs but I’ve got a few exciting things to talk about and I finally managed to pick the lock on my shackles!

First off, we are at the very tail end production on A Book of Tales, our compilation of six adventures and new Character options* for The Witcher TRPG, and will be sending the files off to CD Projekt Red for approvals at the beginning of next week! Once they approve the book the next step is print and that means our adventure book should be heading to shelves in the next few months or so. I can’t speculate exactly when yet but it won’t be long now!

*What new Character options? Let’s just say we expect to start seeing PCs who are short of stature, have buck teeth and fur, or are reptilian once this hits the shelves.

In honor of this big milestone I wanted to show off a beautiful piece of art from one of the adventures!

In addition, I wanted to let everybody know that even as A Book of Tales is wrapping up, the Witcher team at R. Talsorian Games is hard at work on A Tome of Chaos, an entire supplement dedicated to magic in the world of The Witcher that will give you new information, new lore, and new perspectives on the force of primal chaos we call magic. We’ve run a number of playtests in and out of house and have seen a lot of great feedback on the many many new spells, invocations, rituals, hexes, and new forms of magic we’re planning to introduce in this upcoming book! I can’t say too much right now but we’re hoping to have some very cool stuff to talk about later thus month!

In the meantime, keep your swords sharp. We’ll see you soon for more adventures on the Continent!

  1. I can’t wait to get my hands on the book of tales. The book am most excited is the Tomb of Chaos since I love having more options for magic and I love to play magic users in games. Keep up the great work.

  2. So we’ll get werebbubb, gnome and vran races as PC? I wasn’t excited for a book of adventures but now I am!!

  3. Looking at the picture, I can clearly see some kind of cobwebs in the body of the victim. Can we expect new monsters in this Book of Tales? 🙂
