Witcher Watch: The Sting of the Manticore

Back when Cody and Lisa Pondsmith began writing The Witcher TTRPG, they set a goal: they didn’t just want to enable tabletop gamers to play in The Witcher world as presented in the video games or even Andrzej Sapkowski’s superb series of books. They wanted to make it possible to play anywhere and anywhen in that world. They didn’t want gamers to simply follow in Geralt’s footsteps but tell their own stories and have their own adventures on the Continent without limit.

A big step in that direction came in the form of new lore, crafted in conjunction with CD Projekt Red, to introduce more information about The Witcher world. Much of the information about Nilfgaard in the core rulebook is new to the world. We carried the concept even further in A Witcher’s Journal, where R. Talsorian Games and CD Projekt Red crafted the story of the first witchers, the beginning of the witcher schools, and the tale of Erland of Larvik, the founder of the Griffin School. Not long after we introduced Erland to the world in A Witcher’s Journal, he received his own Gwent card as part of the Way of the Witcher expansion.

Which brings us to today and what might well be the most exciting new lore we’ve ever introduced to the world of The Witcher: The Manticore School. Long acknowledged as existing in the canon but shrouded in mystery, Cody Pondsmith worked with CD Projekt Red’s Witcher team to develop information about the Manticore School’s origin, style, and place in the world. The Manticore School represents not just information about a new witcher school you can play in your game but insight into how witchers exist and operate beyond the borders of the North and the Empire of Nilfgaard.

And best of all? You can download The Witcher: Manticore School PDF for The Witcher TTRPG right now and for free! Just visit the DLC section of our website or click on this link and you’re well on your way to adding this new school to your game.

Until next time, keep your swords sharp.
